WOW!! June is here and I’m excited to share fathers day cards for the DIY dad! Yes, I don’t know about you, but it seems like my family is blessed with “crafty dads” who enjoy creating “things”, just like I enjoy creating cards, scrapbooking, and sewing. Do you have some creativists in your family, too??
The Challenge
This month’s blog hop challenge is to use a self selected card layout design from p. 24 in the annual catalog couple with a self-selected stamp and die bundle. Knowing that Fathers Day is just around the corner, I decided to share a new design with the Trusty Tools bundle.

Fathers Day Cards
Now that we have the design and stamp set, it’s time to start creating Fathers Day cards for the special dads in my life. Although my own dad has passed from our earthly home, I create these special cards for the other dads in my life. My father-in-law, brothers, brother-in-laws, and Godfather are all on my Fathers Day cards list. Each of these men have a special place in my heart.

This is a picture of my dad and my youngest child. On this day, we visited with my Grandfather. My dad loved spending time with his grandchildren. Since we live in Alaska, we didn’t get as many opportunities to travel to the east coast as I would have liked. I certainly wish we could have spent more time developing memories together. I’m thankful to have the memories that I do and some pictures to remind me of those special times.
My dad loved to create with wood, always had a project in progress, and another project waiting to start. Today I’m excited to showcase my DIY, Creative, and Carpenter card for dads. As my dad would say, when all the right tools are available, the creative imagination has endless possibilities. This Fathers Day card was a lot of fun to create using the Trusty Tools bundle from Stampin’ Up! This is a card I would love to gift to my dad.
Creating Fathers Day Cards
Alright my friends, check out this design!! I think it turned out great!! I’m excited to share this with my loved ones. Can you see how I took the design layout and tweaked it to meet my design idea?

I wanted this card to have a rustic, masculine feel, so I opted to tear the designer series paper and flicked the white edges with some Early Espresso ink.
I used the dies to cut out the hammer, peg board, and fasteners to create a thematic design.
A variety of sentiments will work for this card, but since this is a Fathers Day card, I used this sentiment.
Color Design

What do you think about the color combination? There are a variety of color options for this “holiday”.
I decided to use these colors since they would create a nice fathers day card, but swapping out the Shaded Spruce for a Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, or even Pumpkin Pie would be fun, too.
The Night of Navy and Pecan Pie are neutral colors, and the Shaded Spruce adds some pop to the mix.
More Card Views
Here are additional views of this card. The piece of designer series paper I tore off was placed on the inside card panel to continue the theme and add interest. I topped off this inside panel with another Trusty Tools and a heart embellishment, since I love the dads in my life. I also used a yellow permanent marker to color the tape measure and “thingamajig” (Is this called a holding pin or button?). LOL.

Well . . . there you have it! What are your thoughts? Do you like the layout design, bundle, and color choices? I’d love to know how you would use this set.
