Going Away Card Message for a Dear Friend

Stampin' Under the Aurora Stamper Group Blog Hop

It’s time for a Blog Hop!! This is the first blog hop for our Alaska stamper group, Stampin’ Under the Aurora! We are excited to launch this blog hop for our fellow stampers in Alaska and around the world. We’d love to hear where you are viewing us from. Please share in the comments below.

The Card Challenge

This card challenge focused on color. I love that the 2025-2027 In Colors are the focus on this challenge. I’ve been wanting to play with these colors, and I think the Going Away Card Message is the perfect card to do just that. Why? These cheerful colors remind me of a rainbow, and sometimes we need some bright and cheery colors in our lives.

Although the challenge was to use three colors, I decided to use all five because they seemed perfect for my going away card message.

All I needed to do was figure out the design and sentiment. Since I planned to give this card to my friend, Laurie, the sentiment from The Right Words stamp set was perfect.

I actually used three of these colors for another blog hop. That card can be found at this link.

A Friendly Inspiration

This going away card message is bittersweet. I made this card for my friend, Laurie, who will be moving from Alaska to Maryland this summer. I love that this card uses all the 2025-2027 Stampin’ Up! In Colors because when put together, it looks like a rainbow. This rainbow reminds me of my friend and her positive outlook on life and helped me plan the overall design.

The day started by enjoying some time with my dear friend, Laurie. We have known each other for sixteen years as professional colleagues and quickly developed a strong friendship.

Laurie is that beautiful friend you can talk with for hours upon end. I love her faith based perspectives and insights in “life”. She has truly been a beautiful blessing and I am grateful our professional paths crossed.

I know Maryland is quite a distance from Alaska; however, since Patrick and I also have a home in Ohio, Maryland isn’t that far away for a quick weekend visit. We will look forward to more bruncheons together in the future.

Going Away Card Message Creation

Now that we know the colors, theme, and inspiration, it’s time to create this card!

Take a look at this card! Isn’t it pretty. Does it remind you of a rainbow? When I created this card I used each of the colors in the 2025-2027 In Color collection. I chose Secret Sea for the base and used the ink pad to stamp the sentiment. If I had tried one of the other four colors, the sentiment would have blended into the care . . . something I did NOT want to see.

I cut the four remaining colors into half inch strips. When I adhered the strips to the second Secret Sea card panel, I left a little space between the strips.

Next I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock and used a punch to create this gorgeous design. After punching a second design in Secret Sea, I cut this piece in half and adhered each side to the back of the sentiment.

Finally, I added some white ribbon and in color strawberry slush pearls to complete this simple and beautiful card.

More Card Views

One thing I like to do when creating handmade cards is to finish the “inside panel”. Yes, this is another place to personalize and make this card even more special. To create this design, I just used several 4 inch strips of coordinating card stock. I love how this turned out.

Well . . . thoughts? Do you think you’ll make a similar card? Perhaps you have some fun birthdays coming up, maybe some thank you cards to share, or even a celebration in the near future. Whatever occassion you have this summer, this card will be a perfect and easy card to create.

Final Thoughts

Well . . . what do you think? Isn’t this a fabulous going away card message for Laurie? I bet you have a friend moving, too, who could use this card to brighten their day. Creating simple cards with strips of cardstock, designer series paper, or even scraps, is a great way to create a beautiful, sentimental card.
